Cody did not have the typical sports background that many coaches and trainers have. In fact, by the age of 25 he was a self proclaimed fat banker -sitting behind a desk, eating doughnuts for breakfast at 9, a couple grilled cheese sandwiches and chips for lunch, soda all day and topping it off with several helpings of spaghetti and ice-cream before bed.

“At my heaviest I was a very out-of-shape 230 lbs.,  weak and sickly. At a particularly low point, I had pneumonia, was off work for 2 months and returned to work to find the company I worked for was closing it’s doors!”

Time for a change!

“I was reading Zig Ziglars’ book, See You at The Top. He was talking about being a leader and writing success books and being overweight. He was determined to ‘walk-the-walk’. By the time the book went to print he had lost a bunch of weight, learned how to exercise and eat right. I decided right there on my porch that morning that I was going to devote my career to helping others become their best in every way, and I also needed to ‘walk-the-walk’!

That year, Cody lost 55 lbs. and began studies to become a certified Personal Trainer.

Currently, Cody and his wife Jennifer co-coach and own Personal Excellence Training. In the summer of 2007, they adopted the CrossFit methods of training and have never looked back.

“There is no other training method out there that is getting the results of CrossFit. As an “evidence based fitness protocol”, CrossFit uses what works and if there is something out there that is found to work better- we’ll adopt it! The community that we are developing here at PXT is amazing. Every day I am compelled to grow and improve, as a coach, an athlete and as a person. I’m humbled to be surrounded by such great people!”
