Tell us about a special interest, topic or hobby that you enjoy.
My friends say that my hobby is to have hobbies. I have a variety of interest buy mainly I like working with ideas and expanding them to see where they take me.
What is your job/business?
I’m in the HVAC industry, Custom Air Handlers to be specify
40lbs. lighter. Stronger, faster and leaner!
I come from a big family, I have 8 uncles (just on my father side) 7 of them are diabetic (type 2)
At the beginning of the year one of them lost a leg do the severity of this conditions and a month later the other, this is when I realized that I need to do something about my health.
So did what any other modern man would do¦ google it! I search for diabetes: causes and cures and I came across the Paleo diet which let me to crossfit.
I reached some more, and to be honest I was skeptic about the whole thing, I thought this is another guy trying to sell a book; but the idea of working out for 10 to 30 min a day was something that appeal to me, I could do that (I said to myself) so I youtube some videos of crossfiting and tried to mimic their WODs in a small apartment complex gym. In did I was very intense, after 20 min I was hurtling, my head felt like it was going to explode, I got a huge headache and felt pretty much miserable, next day my lower back was so sore that I couldn’t bend an inch; most probably from bad form during hip extension on a Swiss-ball. I concluded that I was not going to be able to do it alone and that I needed some basic guideline.

Again through the internet I came across CrossFit Excellence, so one Saturday I figure I go and check it out, see what all this is about, Cody basically spend 1 hr of this time explaining me what was CrossFit what was the Paleo diet, how do they work and why do they work. I work in sales so I’m very cynic when people start giving the sale pitch, but to my amaze Cody did not attempted to sell me anything, all he did is answer all my questions (in a very knowledge way I may add). So I signed up for a free intro class and 4 months later (and 35 lbs lighter) I’m still interested in CrossFit.
I guess that at the beginning what interested me was to see if it worked, now what interests me is how far I can go.
What was your introduction to CrossFit like?
It was intense, I was painful, but it was ALL GOOD!!!
What class times are you usually at?
6:30 am
How often do you train?
4-5 days a week
What has your experience/results been since starting your training here?
It has been life changing, I have gone from No, I’m not going to even attempt that, I know I won’t be able to do it! To Dam if I can’t do it better next time!
How have your goals changed since day 1?
Is not that my goals has changed, I just surpassed my goal in a very short time, I’m in this for the health benefits. The fact that I can now go to the pool without everything jingling is also nice ![]()
What are your current goals (fitness and/or other areas)?
Get fit, I’m not still there and get stronger, I need to develop a strong foundation.
Anything else we should know about you?
Following the Paleo diet and listening to my coaches, I was able to drop 30 lbs in 90 days. If I can do it, anybody can do it!
Coach’s Notes:
The above transformation did not happen by accident, or by magic. It did not happen because of hard work once-in a while or by eating “pretty well”. Miguel has earned the results you see above through hard work done day-after-day-after-day. He has been a fantastic example of consistency. Miguel has trained an average of 4-5 days per week- EVERY week since he started. He probably did not eat perfectly for these first three months, or attend every single workout he had planned, but he has made NO EXCUSES to eat sugar or grains or skip a training day.
