I enjoy most sports, but if I had to choose a few favorites, they would be snowboarding, soccer, and baseball. Snowboarding is one of the reason I joined Crossfit Excellence so that I could stay in shape during the season as well as during the off season.
What is your job/business?
I have been a Financial Advisor since 1999 and in 2002 I decided to start my own Financial Advisor firm. Which means I help clients with retirement goals as well as deal with the stock and bond market on a regular basis.
What interested you to start CrossFit?
I have worked out at your typical big name gym most of my life after I left college. I would go through the on and off ritual of going to lift weights and run on a machine that went nowhere and was rather boring. As the workouts got more and more repetitive the less I wanted to go and the more I had to force myself to go. Which of course meant the less likely I would make it to the gym. I could always find an excuse not to make it in that day and then the next and the next.
Then sometime in 2011 Dr. Bridghid introduced me to Cody and told me about how awesome he is as a trainer as well as how great and fun Crossfit Excellence is. It took me a bit to go and check it all out for myself. I even set up my first workout with Cody and then had to cancel, which then allowed the excuses and maybe a bit of fear of the unknown to delay even longer. Once I finally showed up I learned it was even better than Dr. Bridghid said. To make a long story short, I have found myself addicted to the workouts and look forward to each day’s new WOD. My wife, Lisa, has said
“well you could be addicted to a lot worse.”
What was your introduction to CrossFit like?
My intro to Crossfit was easy learning with Cody during the on ramping, then comes the little bit of fear, merging into a class. The only fear was in my head and the unknown of a group workout. The closests workout I’ve done to a group workout is play soccer. I laugh now because when I should up for my first WOD I felt welcome and not just left on my own to guess at what to do. Thank you coach Paul. In my short six months at Crossfit Excellence I have seen many new faces and each time I have seen how much the coaches as well as everyone there helps them feel like they belong in that class. I have trained with every coach at Crossfit and they are all knowledgeable and excellent at helping do the workout correctly and at your level. No matter what your fitness level is.
What class times are you usually at?
9:30am is the typical time will be at Crossfit, but I have been known to show up at other classes for fun.
How often do you train?
I train five days a week. Monday through Friday unless I’m out of town, but even then I will look up he WOD or e-mail a coach for a workout that I can do that day.
